Final of the FIRST LEGO League on March 6-7, 2020 cancelled as a precaution
The final of the FIRST LEGO League Central Europe on 6 and 7 March 2020 is being cancelled as a precautionary measure due to the rapidly spreading corona virus. This was decided jointly by the organizers HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. and Offenburg University of Applied Sciences on Friday, February 28.
At the final of the 2019/20 season, the best 27 teams from eight countries were to meet and present their skills, research and robots in various categories. However, after the spread of the virus and the diseases in Europe, and especially in Baden-Württemberg, have increased so significantly in recent days, the risk was considered too high and the event was cancelled. This is purely a precautionary measure to protect the teams.
The organizers, the non-profit association HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. and the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg were already in close contact in the past days and regret the cancellation very much. However, there was no other option in terms of containing the spread and protecting the health of the more than 400 participants.
