They learn to research, design, program, and solve problems together. To make this happen, we rely on strong partners. OTIS creates opportunities for the future
In 2025, we were able to secure a dedicated new corporate partner in OTIS Holdings GmbH & Co. OHG. During the 2025–26 season, OTIS sponsored ten FIRST LEGO League Explore teams from Berlin-Reinickendorf. Three employees served as mentors to the teams. The highlight was the joint FIRST LEGO League Explore exhibition on May 28, 2026, at the Berlin-Reinickendorf Library, where teams, teachers and OTIS celebrated the project results.
John Deere Kaiserslautern supports young STEM talents
John Deere’s long-standing commitment in Mannheim led to the establishment of another FIRST LEGO League location in 2025–26: Kaiserslautern. Dedicated employees served as coaches for elementary school teams and, at the conclusion of the project, transformed their company premises into a FIRST LEGO League Explore exhibition. Together with the children, families, teachers, and employees, an inspiring afternoon full of a spirit of discovery, teamwork, and enthusiasm for technology took place on March 27, 2026. At the same time, new connections were forged among local STEM stakeholders, and important momentum was generated for the further development of STEM education in the region.
Novelis provides hands-on STEM education
From an idea to real research: During the 2025/26 FIRST LEGO League UNEARTHED season, the team from the Hadamar MINT Club, sponsored by Novelis, explored archaeological questions. This led to an idea that went far beyond the competition. Together with his team, Tom Langer developed a mobile 3D LiDAR system using the LiDAR sensor from a robotic vacuum cleaner. The prototype is small, lightweight, and can be repaired on-site. Today, the system they developed is being used in archaeological excavations as part of the “Vulci Cityscape” research project in Italy. The students are even analyzing the collected 3D data from Hadamar. This has already yielded a 3D view suggesting a possible access shaft that may have been sealed off around 2,600 years ago. Sometimes innovation begins with programming and building a LEGO robot and leads all the way to archaeology.
