Participate, Learn, Shape

The educational program FIRST LEGO League inspires children and young people around the world to engage with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Participants build, program, and explore real-world challenges, develop their own solutions, and present their ideas. Core values such as collaboration, respect, and discovery-based learning shape the entire learning process.

FIRST LEGO League is flexible in its application:

  • in classroom teaching
  • in after-school clubs and full-day programs
  • in extracurricular learning environments

At the heart of the program is the annually changing challenge, featuring a wide range of thematic areas such as environment and sustainability, water and resources, mobility and transportation, and urban development. These themes can be flexibly integrated into learning settings and support educators and mentors in delivering STEM content in a practical, interdisciplinary, and competency-based way.

Two Editions – One Shared Goal

FIRST LEGO League Core Values

FIRST LEGO League teams, classes, coaches, mentors, volunteers, and organizers actively live the FIRST Core Values. They are the foundation of our collaboration and stand for respect, openness, and mutual support. Our regional partners, who organize the Challenge competitions and Explore exhibitions, are encouraged to implement measures from our Awareness Concept. Awareness means being mindful of one another, respecting boundaries, and creating an environment free from discrimination, bullying, or inappropriate behavior. The concept provides suggestions for protective measures, inclusive cooperation, and a culture of mindfulness – ensuring that all children and young people experience our events as positive and safe.
