Robot Game
in a nutshell ...

Before Tournament Day ...

During the preparation time, you will build and program a robot using a LEGO Education robotics kit. The goal is for the robot to autonomously complete as many missions on the Challenge field as possible to earn points.

On Tournament Day ...

On tournament day, each team competes in three preliminary rounds, each lasting 2:30 minutes, in a Robot Game match. Two game tables are combined into a single island, allowing two teams to compete simultaneously.

When it’s your team’s turn, up to four team members, who act as technicians, will approach the game table to set up and start the robot. The rest of the team remains in the spectator area.

At the game table, referees are in charge, and team members must follow their instructions. After each match, the referees and technicians record the state of the field on a score sheet or electronically via tablet.

After the three preliminary rounds, the top four or eight teams with the highest scores are announced. These teams advance to the quarter-finals or semi-finals. In these rounds, each team plays only one match, and the scores determine progression rather than a knockout system.

In the final, the two best teams from the semi-finals compete against each other in two rounds. The scores from both rounds are added together.

The "Robot Game" Award

In the Robot Game category, the team that scores the most points in the two final rounds wins. For the Champion Award, however, the best preliminary round match of your team is what counts.

At all Challenge regional and qualification tournaments in Germany and Austria as well as at the D-A-CH final, the German Robot Game Rulebook and Challenge Updates will be the official reference for evaluations and rule decisions. For Challenge regional and qualification tournaments in Switzerland, please ask the responsible organizers which version of the Robot Game Rules and Challenge Updates will be used at the event.
