Recap of the FIRST LEGO League Meetup

by Stefanie Sieber

On the last Saturday in October, we had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring meetup in a Barcamp format! Dedicated members of our FIRST LEGO League community—coaches, volunteers, regional partners, alumni, and the HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. team—came together to further develop the educational program and exchange valuable experiences. Here’s an overview of the session highlights:

* New Volunteer Platform: A user-friendly platform is in the works that will significantly simplify organization and coordination for volunteers.

* Artificial Intelligence in FIRST LEGO League: The role of AI in the educational program was explored, from assisting with preparation to supporting jury work. It’s an exciting topic for the future!

* Enhanced Awareness Concept: Mindfulness is taking a more prominent role, with discussions on how this concept can enhance the quality of our events.

* Optimized Jury Evaluations for the SUBMERGED Season: FIRST LEGO League core values remain a key element and are more important than ever. However, instead of a separate category, these values are now integrated into other evaluation areas.

* From Scratch to Python: Alumni from teams Mäc Lego RMS and Robotus Maurus shared valuable tips on transitioning from Scratch to Python, supporting teams in coding skills and enhancing their tech journey.

A big thank you to our Barcamp host, Thomas Madeya, and to everyone whose commitment made this event a success! Your ideas and enthusiasm are the driving force behind the evolution of FIRST LEGO League. Together, we’re shaping an innovative and exciting season!

Looking Ahead: After this meetup, we’re already working on new concepts and improvements for the future. Stay tuned!
